The Adventure Begins

We’re on the road again! For the next 3 months we are living out of our car with the whole family traveling in Florida and then in the North East, visiting churches in a final fundraising push to get us back to Japan. We need to raise another $2,300 in monthly support and about $16,000 cash to meet our budget. We’re on a mission to get it done and get back to our church that is without it’s pastor, or ministries that miss us and get out kids back to Japan in time for the start of the school year.

We started off 1 week ago today from our house in Ozark, MO. We cleaned out the house and headed off for Florida. Our first stop was Oxford Assembly of God. We shared an update with the church on what we’ve been doing and had a time of Q&A. On Thursday we checked in to a KOA near Titusville and Chris had a meeting at Faith Assembly of God in Orlando. Friday we took some time to relax at the Canaveral National Seashore: . We built a big sandcastle and swam in the sea before a rainstorm ended our visit. We came back Saturday morning to view the manatees before heading to a pastor’s home in Orlando. The kids had a great time playing Monopoly with Raquelle, the pastor’s daughter and Chris got some paper work done.

On Sunday morning we split up. Chris and the younger kids went and spoke at Generacion De Fe and Lindsey and Wesley went to Radiant Life. After Lindsey and Wesley had lunch at Pastor Cromwell’s house, we met up at the Pastor Perez-Aponte’s house, said goodbye and headed out to El Calvario, a large Spanish speaking church. Chris was on the air as he preached his sermon (it is broadcast on the radio in various countries around the world). Lindsey loved the lively worship, especially the song No Hay Lugar Mas Alto: . Afterwards, we had dinner at Perkins and finally checked into our hotel at about 11pm.

Monday we extended our stay another night at the hotel. Chris went to a meeting at River of Life church in Marriot Island. Lindsey took the kids swimming and ended up in the pool, fully clothed to rescue Addie! Thankfully no one was hurt. The kids were worn out after a lot of swimming and everyone slept well!

Today we headed off near Mulberry, but first we stopped in at Disney Springs, a shopping area near the Disney World theme parks. We sampled free chocolate, had a snack and checked out the Lego store. Inside the store the kids could build with bricks, build a car and race it down a track, and hold up boxes of Legos in front of a camera and watch them come to life on a screen and all of it for free! Except for walking in the 93 degree F heat, we had a great time. In the afternoon we checked in to another hotel, ordered a pizza, worked on some summer homework, caught up on laundry and did a little more swimming.

It’s been a whirlwind of a week! Many more adventures await us. Stay tuned for more updates from the road and check out the giving tab if you would like to help us get back to Japan!
