Just Keep Swimming

As Dory the fish says, “just keep swimming, just keep swimming”

and that’s what we’ve been doing.  We’ve been passing around a mild stomach flu and other illnesses that has put a damper on our travels in this middle part of our Florida road trip.

June started out with a visit to Interlachen,FL where Chris spoke at Bethel Assembly. Unfortunately Lindsey smashed her toe and had a stomach bug, so she was unable to go.   On Thursday Chris was a guest on a Christian Television prayer show filmed live in Tampa, Florida. Friday we visited a kind pastor at Faith Family Worship Center in Tampa, FL. We also bought the kids a treat and had donuts for national donut day. Sunday Lindsey and Hudson spoke at East Point Assembly of God in Tampa and Chris and the older kids were at Fort Meade Assembly of God. We all met up for lunch with some people from East Point at Cracker Barrel.

The next week we headed inland as a tropical storm was on the way. We found a great deal online and were able to stay at a condo like place for a couple of nights. We hunkered down during the storm. We did some summer homework. Chris worked on studying some Japanese. Lindsey got a lot of homeschool planning done for next year and was able to order some books to take back to Japan for teaching Hudson. By Wednesday the weather had cleared up. We visited some old friends, the Hukill’s. We housesat for them when Lindsey was pregnant with Wesley 14 years ago. It was good catching up! Then we headed off to see St. Augustine, the oldest city in America. We visited the Catillo de San Marcos national park: https://www.nps.gov/casa/index.htm. We ended the day speaking at Palatka First Assembly of God. Thursday we went back to Cape Canaveral in an attempt to see a rocket launch from the space center. Unfortunately it was canceled because of bad weather, but we did get to check out the visitor’s center. On Friday we caught up on laundry and Lindsey did some more school planning. Saturday we attended a missions convention at Manatial de Vida. There we met some amazing people, including a missionary associate couple that offered to let us stay at their house later in the week while they are out of town. What a blessing!

This week started with Chris returning to speak at Manatial de Vida in Haines City, while Lindsey and the kids spoke at Cross Connections Church in Bushnell. Today, in an effort to save money, we toured a timeshare and got a 3 night free hotel stay (and no we did not purchase a timeshare!). Then we returned to the hotel and have been taking it easy. The tummy bug seems to have hit Wesley today. Hudson also is sick. He has a fever, runny nose and a sore throat. We were hoping to visit the space center tomorrow and a lady at a church who works at Disney generously offered to let us go to a Disney theme park. We were hoping to do that this week too. However, we’ve put these plans on hold until everyone is well. Prayers for health would be greatly appreciated. It’s hard being sick while you’re on the road. Prayers that the fundraising goes well so that we can go home to Japan would also be appreciated. If you’d like to be a part of the answer to that prayer you can check out the support link on our website. Thanks for following along with our road trip adventures and keeping us in your prayers!
